Ford Tourneo Connect

Ford Tourneo Connect was presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2003. The car is produced at the Ford Otosan factory in Turkey. It looks quite modest, but at the same time stylish and modern. A wide doorway provides the most comfortable fit. Describing the interior, we recall that the Tourneo is not a business class crew, but a commercial, delivery car. Therefore, high-quality gray plastic is partially used in the finishes, but it is shockproof and easy to wash. Niches, shelves, cup holders and pockets are everywhere.

The body of the van, despite its impressive dimensions, does not look bulky due to the rather short hood and a large glazing area. Tourneo is an excellent assistant in the delivery of any goods. The creators thought through everything to the smallest detail so that the driver and passengers were as comfortable and convenient as possible.

The car is offered with one or two strong sliding side doors, and the “paths” along which the rollers go are so imperceptibly integrated into the car body that you will not even notice them at once. The back door opens up, however there is the possibility of ordering swing wings. They can be opened at 90, 172 and 250 degrees, and lanterns integrated into the ceiling will facilitate loading at night.

The five-seat Tourneo Connect is offered to customers in two body styles – standard with a conventional roof, in which the car will be 4278 mm long, 1814 mm high and 2.8 m³ in body volume and long with a high roof, 4525 mm long, 1981 mm high and body volume 3.67 m³.

But the company’s engineers have in store a way that will help raise the figures for body volume to 3.41 and 4.36 m³, respectively. This is a folding front passenger seat. For convenience, the whole operation consists of two steps – first, the pillow is reclined, and then the backrest is folded flush with the floor of the cargo compartment. For those who do not need this option, it is proposed to replace this universal option with a comfortable chair with adjustments in four directions. The back row is able to transform in various versions, the seats fold down at once and in parts, and if necessary, are completely removed from the car.

The ergonomics of the car correspond to the advanced positions that modern Ford products have reached. The driver’s seat has six adjustments. For passenger convenience, almost passenger comfort reigns in the front of the passenger compartment – the steering column is adjustable for tilt and height, there is a reclining armrest, a holder with a paper clip on the panel, a spacious “glove compartment”, compartments in the doors, a special compartment for a cell phone and much more . Of the equipment: air conditioning, electrical adjustment of large two-section (lower section – for the convenience of parking) mirrors, heated front and rear windows.

The vehicle is equipped with passive and active safety in a full program: in addition to the standard Air-Bag for the driver, you can order a passenger airbag and side curtains, ABS, traction control and rear disc brakes.

The engine range is represented by three units of the same volume: the 1.8-liter gasoline Duratec (115 hp, 160 Nm at 4400 rpm), the turbodiesel Duratorq Tdi (75 hp, 175 Nm at 1800 rpm) and turbo diesel Duratorq TDCi (90 hp, 220 Nm at 1700 rpm). All engines are equipped with five-speed manual transmissions with a “passenger” gearbox backstage that makes life easier for the driver.

The declared passenger handling is inherent in the car, primarily due to the suspension from Focus, which received new ball bearings from Transit, springs of increased diameter and gas shock absorbers. But the carrying capacity of 625 and 800 kilograms, respectively, has already been achieved due to the rear spring suspension, equipped, among other things, with anti-roll bar.
